Custom Cabinets in Kilgore, TX
Kitchen cabinets, built-ins and storage made to fit the room rather than the catalog. Built in the Kilgore shop and fitted by the same people who made them.
Stock cabinets and old Kilgore kitchens do not agree
Cabinets come from a factory in fixed widths, in three-inch steps. Kitchens in houses built during and after the oil boom do not. The result is the thing everyone recognises: filler strips down the side of the run, a corner nobody can reach into, and eight inches of wasted wall because the next size up would not go in.
Built-to-fit cabinetry starts from the opening you actually have. The run goes wall to wall, the corner gets a proper carousel or a deep drawer, and the awkward space beside the chimney breast becomes a cupboard instead of a gap.
Keep the boxes, change everything else
A lot of the kitchens we look at round here do not need tearing out. In houses of this age the carcasses are often solid timber and perfectly sound, and it is the doors, the drawer runners, the handles and the finish that have had their day. Replacing those — new doors and drawer fronts, new hardware, the whole run painted or refinished — gets you a different kitchen for a fraction of a rebuild.
We will tell you which of the two your kitchen needs after looking at it, and we will say so if the honest answer is the cheaper one.
Built-ins, not just kitchens
Office built-ins with a run of desk and cupboards above. Mudroom benches with hooks and cubbies. Laundry cabinetry. Window seats with storage underneath. Bookcases built into an alcove so they look original to the house. Garage and workshop storage. Bar units and corner cabinets, including wet ones with a sink cut in.
Downtown Kilgore work
Historic downtown Kilgore has kept its Art Deco frontages from the boom years and now runs on independent shops and restaurants under the Texas Main Street program. Fitting out a space like that is a different job from a domestic kitchen — counters, display, back-of-house storage, and doing it in a way that suits a period building rather than fighting it. We take that work.
Questions we get from Kilgore
Do I need to replace the whole kitchen?
Usually not. In a lot of older Kilgore houses the cabinet boxes are solid and it is the doors, drawers and finish that have aged. Replacing only what needs replacing is normally the better job and much the cheaper one.
Will new cabinets fit an old house?
That is the point of having them made. Stock cabinets come in fixed widths and older kitchens rarely oblige. Building to the actual opening means no filler strips and no dead corners.
Do you do built-ins as well as kitchens?
Yes — office built-ins, mudroom benches and lockers, bookcases, window seats, laundry cabinetry and garage storage. Anything fixed to the room rather than standing in it.
Do you take commercial work?
Yes. Shop fittings, counters and display units as well as domestic kitchens.
How a cabinet job starts
With a look at the room. Photographs get the conversation going, but cabinetry gets measured in person — walls in houses this old are rarely square, and that has to be built in rather than discovered on fitting day. You will get a real price before anything is cut.
