Can you make a gate or farm sign?
Yes, and built for the spot rather than for a porch. Tell us how exposed it is and how far it sits from the house.
Handmade wooden signs for Troup — gate and farm signs, church pieces, and family names for the house.
Troup sits at the crossing of two state highways and four farm roads in the corner of Smith County, with the city limits running down into Cherokee County. Most of what we make for this area goes up outdoors and a long way from anybody who is going to look after it — gate signs, farm names, place names at the end of a drive.
That makes construction matter more than decoration. Timber chosen for outdoors, joints cut rather than stapled, lettering with enough depth that it still reads once the surface has weathered, and a finish that will take an East Texas summer. Tell us how exposed the spot is and how far it sits from the house.

Troup had four churches when it had six hundred people, and small-town East Texas has not changed much in that respect. Church signs, noticeboards and scripture pieces are steady work here, and they are the sort of thing that gets made once and stays up for decades — which is a good argument for timber over something printed.
These are timber pieces, not printing. Real frames, real boards, joints cut rather than stapled, and a finish put on the way a table gets finished. That is why they survive on a gatepost, and why they sit properly beside good furniture indoors instead of looking like gift shop stock.

Family names and established dates. House numbers. Scripture. Nursery and children's room pieces. Wedding and anniversary signs. Memorial pieces for a family place. Kitchen and laundry wording. One sign for one room is a perfectly normal order.
A close cousin of the sign work and one of the most-asked-for things in the shop. A stained board with cast hooks, cut to the length of wall you actually have, sorts out a back door or a mud room that never had anywhere to hang anything. They take lettering too.
Send the wording, the rough size, and a photograph of where it is going. You get a price before anything is cut, and Troup is about forty minutes from the shop.

Yes, and quoted plainly — they usually come out of a committee budget.
Usually. Bring a paint chip, a photograph, or the thing it has to sit beside.
One. A single sign for one room is a perfectly normal order.
The shop is in Kilgore and we travel from here — as far as Lufkin when the job is worth the drive.
A phone picture is plenty. We will tell you what it needs, what it will cost and roughly how long it will take — before you commit to anything.
